Why Do Kids Look so Goofy in Track Uniforms?

Everyone who has strolled past a school yard during track practice has wondered it to themselves, or even aloud. What is it about school track uniforms track uniforms that make our kids look, well, just plain goofy?

Olympic track stars look so cool in their patriotic colors, as they whiz by the cameras, smiling, as they earn their medals in split-second wins. And yet, all of them started out the same place our kids do, fumbling about on a field in strange clothing after school. Is it the oversized tank-tops? Perhaps it’s the fluttering shorts and knee-socks. Whatever the reason, our future T&F stars seldom look as good as their professional counterparts in their track uniformstrack uniforms.

True, Olympic track greats are attired in form-fitting, custom designed sportswear, not generic, one-size-fits-all school uniforms. Maybe it’s about time that our schools get on the bandwagon and begin outfitting their students like the stars they emulate and one day may hope to become.

If confidence is 90% of the win, then surely better track uniforms track uniforms would go a long way towards racking up medals and, thus, the reputation of the school itself. After all, sportswear is all about being comfortable and no one feels truly comfortable when they are swimming in the clothes that are supposed to help them show off their athletic prowess.
